Coleman Rowlett Composer
Weild Ride (2018)
for 2 saxophones
Coleman Rowlett and Zachary Weiler were members of the Sunset Syndicate Saxophone Quartet between 2016 and 2018. One
day, the two stayed late after rehearsal improvising with each other. This improvisation inspired Rowlett to compose a piece for Weiler as a representation of their shenanigans and playful friendship. The piece uses a number of unusual techniques and is largely based in improvisation as a tribute to their original jam sessions. The title of the piece, Weild Ride (2018), is a play on Weiler’s name and the word “Wild,” which certainly describes their time together.
